Studio Newborn Session Information

Scheduling.

Newborns are best captured within the first two weeks of life, when they still remember what life was like in the womb.  We want to photograph them bendy, curly, squishy, and oh so sleepy.  It’s best to book your newborn session while you are in your second and third trimesters, and then you’ll contact me as soon as the baby is born and we’ll schedule the exact date and time of your session within that two-week window.

Planning + Styling.

We will begin the process with an in-person consultation to get to know each other and discuss lighting, posing, wardrobe, colors, and props.  I have all of the props that we’ll need for the session at the studio, including backdrops, floors, buckets, baskets, wraps, blankets, furs, hats, and headbands.  You are welcome to bring any items that have sentimental meaning to you, but it is not necessary to buy or bring your own props.  We will also discuss and plan what the family will wear at the newborn session so that everyone is looking their best. We will also have the opportunity to review the gorgeous heirloom products that I offer in person so that you can start planning the display options and the final desired result from your session.

Family Welcome.

The parents and any siblings may be included in the session, as well as any grandparents or other family members.  The more the merrier!  We know this is a precious and exciting time in one’s life and it should be captured with your family and loved ones.

Newborn Session.

Professional hair and makeup artistry may be added to your session for an additional fee, which will help new moms feel their best – I have two kids so I know what it is like those first few weeks with a newborn!  The session is slow paced and relaxed, lasing approximately 2-4 hours to allow for feedings, cuddling and soothing as needed.  Snacks and drinks will be provided to help keep everyone energized.

Reveal and Ordering Session.

Within 10 days of your session, I will come to your home to reveal your gorgeous images, create custom wall displays, and guide and assist you through the image and product decision-making process.  The chosen images will receive master art retouching prior to product orders being placed.

Delivery and Installation.

Your ordered products will be hand delivered and installed at your home.  A custom experience from beginning to end.
