This session was especially special (!) to me because little O happens to be the son of one of my very dear friends (let’s call her K) that I’ve known since college. How we met is actually a random story – I went to Boulder, CO for my freshman year spring break to visit my best friend from high school (M) who went to school out there. M and K lived in the same dorm and were friends so I was introduced to K. Turns out that K was from Florida and she was transferring to UF that summer. I told her to look me up when she got in town and she did. We ended up living together the following year (well, w/ 4 other people too in a big old house – one of my favorite years at UF!), and we’ve been friends since! I introduced K to her husband (a friend from high school), share many of the same loves (traveling, art, food) and have shared many moments and adventures together. At times we’ve been closer than others due to physical distance and lack of diligently staying in touch as our life paths went separate ways; but that’s the normal ebb and flow of any relationship, right? K is part of who I am, my history, life story and memories. I was over the moon when I found out they were moving to Orlando this past summer. Our boys are about 7.5 months apart, so it will be awesome watching them grow up together.
As for the style of this session, I wanted to capture this sweet family in their own every-day element, exactly as they are; pure honest truth with no pretenses. Their house is bright and colorful and airy and beautifully decorated (K has great style!) and perfect for a true “lifestyle” photography session. I just love the results. Happy Birthday, O.! Much love to your Mama (and Dada too, but especially Mama!). xoxo
